At UVAE, each tasting begins with six carefully selected Portuguese wines, but the journey reaches far beyond the glass. Through illustrated films, regional stories and guided tasting, guests travel across Portugal's wine heritage — from ancient vineyards and native grape varieties to the landscapes, people and traditions that shaped one of the world's most diverse wine countries.
Portuguese wine has been shaped over thousands of years. From early Iberian communities and Phoenician traders to Roman vineyards, Moorish irrigation techniques, medieval trade routes and the rise of Port wine in the Douro, each era left its mark on the country's wine culture. Today, Portugal combines ancient traditions with modern winemaking, offering an extraordinary diversity of regions, grapes and styles.
Portugal's most historic wine region and the birthplace of Port wine. Its steep terraced vineyards along the Douro River produce powerful reds, elegant whites and some of the country's most iconic fortified wines.

About Us
UVAE was created by Hugo Conde and Marina Parada Conde — a husband and wife team united by a shared love of wine, history and the pleasure of bringing people together around a table.
Hugo is a former winemaker with experience across several countries — the creative mind behind the design and content.
Marina is the creative force behind the sales, service and hospitality, working for more than two decades in five-star endeavours all over the world.
Together they developed everything at UVAE from the ground up.
UVAE opened in June 2025 in a dedicated space in Carvoeiro, just a four-minute walk from the village centre.
